Why POGO? |
Rapidly growing in San Diego is the sport of field hockey. Committed to the game we found minimal structured opportunities offered for girls under 14 to play. As regional interest in hockey has increased, so has the demand. POGO is the result of YOUR request…… we HEAR you and are committing to developing the youth of San Diego to be the “finest” hockey players in the country. We pledge to share with you an AMAZING game, to provide opportunities to all interested players and beginners and to advance the game in the best interest of the girls playing and the sport itself. POGO Field Hockey strongly recommends interested players to to sign up for Summer POGO as a group. Team registrations for Junior POGO league are compulsory! Players, for whom absolutely no team can be organized or found to play with, can submit an individual registration. We will do our best to assist in placing individual players on a team, on a per person basis, when necessary (but without guarantee). Organize your friends, schoolmates, recruit new players to play POGO and make this summer a fun hockey experience. |

Mini POGO is designed for girls just beginning in field hockey. Mini Pogo offers open play instructional sessions, encourages a lot of touches on the ball. It is great for keeping the ball in play and teaches beginners the basics of field hockey in a fun and encouraging environment. Maintaining continuous play in the court setting, rapidly advances hand/eye coordination and stick skill in the young player. NEW TO FIELD HOCKEY? No problem. Mini Pogo provides sticks to play with! The Junior POGO League is designed for the Junior High player leading up until their Freshman preseason. This league is played as a 6v6 to encourage maximal touches and game play experience. Played with outdoor sticks, ball and rules, the Junior League surface is a fast and furious on an enclosed court to quicken reaction times, increase hand speed and improve individual skills for the fall season. Played on Friday nights under the lights to build excitement and encourage spectators. Join as a team or register individually but register today to improve your game for the fall hockey season.
