San Diego, CA – The RUSH Field Hockey Team participated in the National Field Hockey Festival this past weekend, finishing 4 th in the U19 Pool D division. The National Field Hockey Festival is the world’s largest amateur field hockey event held in Palm Springs , CA each November over the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend. The RUSH coaches and former National Team players Tara Jelley Danielson and Steve Danielson lead the team with a 16 player roster hailing from nine different high schools in the San Diego area. The RUSH team selected for the 2007 festival was an All County All Star selection made up of four returning players from the 2006 U19 Pool F Festival Championship Team which included Lauren Greenwald (Carlsbad, CA), Haleh Nourani (Carlsbad, CA), Paige Simmons (San Diego, CA) and Kristen Sondag (Carlsbad, CA). Also selected to the 2007 roster were Ellre Ancheta (San Diego, CA), Kendra Bills (Del Mar, CA), Molly Cassidy (Encinitas, CA), Carly Schoch (Bonita, CA), Sarah Fox (Valley Center), Alexa Golden (San Diego, CA), Krista Jackson (San Diego, CA), Claire Mittermiller (La Jolla, CA), Lia Sagerman (La Jolla, CA), Nicole St. Marie (San Diego, CA), Andrea Toogood (Bonita, CA), Chelsea Yogerst (San Diego, CA). Selected in the summer during the RUSH Field Hockey summer program at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista , the U19 squad finished with a 2-3-1 record in pool play with each game being decided by one goal. “This team played with fire”, noted Coach Jelley Danielson when asked about her teams performance. “I could not have been more proud of this team’s performance on the field”. “These girls worked hard, executed the strategies given to them and made each game competitive and exciting to watch”. The Festival play continues the development of the RUSH Field Hockey program and its mission to improve the level of field hockey in San Diego for area high school hockey players. The RUSH program will be ramping up with a winter training program held at the Del Mar Sports Center at the Del Mar Fairgrounds come February. RUSH U19 Festival Travel Team 2007
